City Council Member Carlos Menchaca is partnering with the Arab American Association of New York and other community organizations to host an event on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. “Own Your Dream,” a day-long community event on deferred action will take place on Saturday April 26th from 12- 4 pm at Sunset Park High School located at 153 35th Street Brooklyn NY 11232.

Deferred Action is an immigration program for undocumented youth between 16 and 30 years of age that have been in the US at least since 2007. At the time of entry to the US they must have been younger than 16 years old. If they meet all of the requirements and are approved, they will receive a work permit, a social security number, and protection from deportation. Deferred Action must be renewed every two years.

At the clinic, attendees will receive legal assistance to complete their DACA application. They will also learn about scholarships for DACA recipients and undocumented youth. We will also have information on health services available to DACA recipients.

We ask that you share the flyer and information with your networks, students, family and friends.

Attendees must RSVP to Evelyn Garcia by email or phone: Evelyn@ArabAmericanNY.org or 718-745-3523.
