FREE citizenship application assistance

posted Jun 9, 2015, 9:59 AM by Sylwia Jasinski

Good morning,

I hope this email finds you well!

The NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) would like to share upcoming events that provide FREE citizenship application assistance. NYCitizenship offers free immigration information, application assistance and financing options to anyone interested in beginning the naturalization process. We would like to extend an invitation to interested individuals within your network to take advantage of this opportunity.

At the events, participants who are eligible to naturalize will receive free legal assistance on the citizenship application (N-400) and learn if they qualify for a fee waiver to avoid paying the $680 United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) filing fee.

UPCOMING BROOKLYN EVENT:

Saturday, July 11th

James Madison High School

3787 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11229

10:30am – 1:30pm

**Please note that interested individuals must make an appointment before attending the event and can do so by calling us at (212) 788-7654 or by visitingnyc.gov/nycitizenship

SHARE WITH YOUR COMMUNITY!

We need your assistance in sharing the attached event flyers in order to help spread the word about this opportunity. We have attached our flyers in English, Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Chinese, Korean, Bengali, Urdu and Punjabi. We also have additional languages available, so if you have a specific language need to accommodate, please contact us by email at nycitizenship@cityhall.nyc.gov or call us at (212) 788-7654.

HOST AN INFORMATION SESSION OR WORKSHOP!

If you have any opportunities to table at your school or schedule an information session/workshop where we can speak to your school’s parents on citizenship or immigration, please let us know so we can send a staff member.

In addition to our NYCitizenship events, MOIA hosts Know Your Rights Forums. This initiative is aimed to inform immigrants about available city services and opportunities to become more involved in their local community. Our office would organize the forum and we can schedule to have city agency representatives speak based on the needs and interests of the community. Attached you will find our postcard which provides more background and our menu of forum topics. If you are interested in hosting a forum with MOIA, please contact our Forum Coordinator, Trimé Kaja, by email attkaja@cityhall.nyc.gov or by phone at (212) 676-9752.

We are trying to help as many people as possible and need your assistance in sharing this information. If you have any questions, concerns or need the attached flyers in other languages, please feel free to contact Sean Khatibi, Giovanni Barcenes, Trimé Kaja or Evelyn Garcia (cc’d). You can also reach us on our main line at (212) 788-7654. Thank you in advance for your assistance! We look forward to working with you!

Best regards,

Evelyn Garcia
