Understanding the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for ELLs

Open to: Parents and parent coordinators

Event: January 27, 2014, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Location: Community School District 6 - Manhattan ( 4360 Broadway, Room 527)

  

This free half-day workshop is designed for parents of ELLs in special education and/or parents that might need information regarding ELLs that receive special education services. Participants will gain a working knowledge of laws pertaining to special education and ELLs, including their role in the development of an appropriate Individualized Education Program (IEP) and how to be an effective partner with the CSE/IEP school team in the process.

 

Participants may bring his/her child's IEP, as the workshop will include hands-on activities designed to further familiarize participants with the IEP as it pertains to ELLs, so as to support parents in being active participants in the creation of his/her child’s IEP and lead toward positive educational outcomes.

 

This workshop will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Breakfast will be offered from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) at the Community School District 6 Office at 4360 Broadway, Room 527, New York, NY 10033.
