Workshop Series on Autism Spectrum Disorders

 

We wanted to share with you information about an upcoming free workshop series hosted by the NYC Department of Education, in collaboration with the NYS Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Old Westbury and the Child Study Center at NYU Langone Medical Center. The series will cover best practices in supporting children with autism spectrum disorders. The first two workshops will take place next week.

 

Monday, December 8 at 6 pm 

Teaching Safety Skills to Children with Autism

Children with ASD are vulnerable in many potentially dangerous situations. Research shows that safety skills can be taught and preventive measures can be implemented for children of all functioning levels. Learn what you can do to help your child be safer. 
 
Wednesday, December 10 at 10 am 
Helping Your Child with Autism Cope with Anxiety
Many children and adolescents with ASD struggle with anxiety. This workshop discusses ways anxiety are identified and treated in adolescents with ASD, and the role parents/caregivers play in treatment.
