New Books arrive at Pershing

This past October Pershing had its most successful book fair to date with almost $7000.00 in gross sales.  From this, the school was granted over $4000.00 dollars in “Scholastic money” to spend on new books. With the money, the school was able to purchase over 400 new books!  As English teachers announced the new arrivals, students eagerly clamored for new titles like The Fault in Our Stars, Wonder, and Smile. Many classrooms even have waiting lists of students yearning for the latest books! This unprecedented enthusiasm towards literacy and reading is part of a larger culture of learning Pershing teachers instill in their students every day. The new books are just the icing on the cake. Pershing students are already looking forward to the spring “Buy One, Get One Free” fair that will help get even more books into their homes.
