Who Are We?
Center for Students, Teachers, and Families (CSTF) is a program of the Guidance Center of
Brooklyn, a not-for-profit agency that provides clinical treatment services for children and families in Southwest Brooklyn.
CSTF is a comprehensive, integrated school-based intervention project that serves students of John J. Pershing Intermediate School 220.  The goal of this project is the creation of an integrated approach to the delivery of mental health, behavioral, and support services to IS 220
students, families, and school staff.

When To Consider CSTF Services?
Counseling / therapeutic services should be considered if a child:
  • Exhibits distress / frustration / agitation
  • Is depressed, socially withdrawn
  • Is anxious, worried, and upset
  • Shares thoughts / ideas of hurting self  or others
  • Uses drugs or alcohol
  • Lacks self care: does not eat, drink, has poor hygiene, does not change clothes
  • Conducts ritualistic acts (i.e. repeating same gestures)
  • Sates that sees or hears things that others do not, or that has special powers                         
  • Excessively preoccupied with one idea / thought
  • Believes that someone is out to get them or their family
  • Has difficulties making simple decisions,carrying out everyday functions
  • Shows change in behavior / academic patterns
